Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We will not meet this Friday, November 24th.
Please go to our website and see the picture of last week's meeting attendees taken and posted by Kris (Thank you Kris). What a great happy looking group. Also check the picture of Joe and Tom working the marshmellow cooking pits at Bentleyville on Sunday evening. Soon there will be pictures of tonight's dinner and pies at the Thanksgiving Dinner for youth at Life House. We served 150+ meals to young people who likely don't have a home cooked meal on Thanksgiving. Thanks to the Downtown Club for inviting us along, and thanks to all of our members who provided pies. The young people ate heartily, but it was the pies and whipped cream that made it really special.
It is Fudge Fundraiser time again with Russ having us tag along with his Valley Youth Center. For our newer folks just know that it is fabulously decadent fudge that family and friends will love you for gifting them.
Last week's meeting guests at OMC were: From Hermantown High School Noah Blomquist, From Marshal School Vi Vu, Cindy Sward, Jay Ferguson's Daughter, Guest of Kris - Kelly Thompson-Sather, and Hugo's UMD business class.
What a fun, interseting and enjoyable meeting. Thank you to Jim for arranging the meeting. Following a great meal OMC owners Tom and Louie Hanson told us about how they started the restaurant right before Covid after touring the south to learn how to prepare barbecue. Both Jim and Todd M. Johnson spoke to their generosity and role in revitalizing the Lincoln Park business district. What a great opportunity it was for Hugo's students to hear the story of a local serial entreprenuer who helped to turn around a blighted and abandoned business area. We toured their business including a new Air B&B building adjacent to OMC.
December will be a busy month. Refer to the Club calendar. 12/1 we will be back at the YMCA. 12/8 will be the Holiday Auction with the always entertaining auctioneering tag team of Joe and Rob along with a visit from the Superior Club Dragon Boat team. 12/15 will be holiday family present shopping and gift wrapping day. There will be no meeting on 12/29. The holiday party will be casual and child friendly at a location near Bentleyville.
November is Rotary Foundation Month.
Thought for the Week
