The Hermantown Community Learning Center Stage Project now has roof decking and tomorrow we hope for shingles. If anyone is able to help Thursday afternoon into the evening we may be able to complete the project and schedule a ribbon cutting.
Thank you to the intrepid Highway Cleanup crew last Friday. We can put our vests, bags, and pickers away for another winter.
If you ordered roses from Earl and asked him to deliver them, please remember to come to the meeting to pick them up.

A special thank you to Deb for spearheading the nomination submission for Mark for District 5580 Governor 2025-2026.
We will know more about the selection by the end of the month.
Congratulations to Todd M. Johnson and the Boys and Girls Club of the Northland for their most successful Gala Fundraiser event ever.
Our speaker was Desiree Otterino from the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse and Housing. She is the Housing Director. The timing of her presentation was appropriate as October is Domestic Violence Month. She was raised in Red Lake and domestic violence and human trafficking are very personal to her as she lost a cousin 10 years ago never to be heard from again. CASDA operates a shelter with 10 beds, but there are regularly 15-20 kids there. There is a tremendous need for housing especially now. Most of their clients are referred by the police. She spoke about the success of a Washington State program that focused on providing housing first. What can we do? Provide a sympathetic ear for someone who may be experiencing abuse. Most victims experience abuse 7 times before they leave a relationship. There are ways that Skyline could help. Daycare help is always needed. Moving help is needed. We can bring our advocacy for raising awareness of the problem and raising funds.
Next Friday's meeting 10/21 will be at the YMCA. We will have a planning discussion about the Following Friday's Rock the Skyline Concert/Fundraiser and a Rotary video. Duties will be: Invocation - Chris Sward, Fellowship - Greg Kaake, and Greeter - Sarah Boynton.
Upcoming Rock the Skyline Committee Zoom meetings will be tomorrow 10/12 at 4:00 and on 10/19, and 10/26.
October is Rotary Community Economic Development Month.
Thought for the Week
“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
