This is Peach Sale Weekend.
This has been our Club's major fundraisers for 25+ years. Online orders are double what they were last year due to good efforts by Tim. Earl has sold up a storm as usual. Tim is looking for some feedback on how many lugs people have sold so that we know if we can sell to walk ups from the start or if we have to wait. The semi will be parked on the west side of Sam's Club giving people driving up a lane to pass through. The truck should arrive Thursday evening or early Friday morning. Tickets say peaches available Friday 11 AM - 7 PM, but we know that folks will be trying to pick them up early Friday morning. We will have pizza lunch at noon. Friday is the busiest day, but we open again at 9 AM on Saturday until peaches are sold out, or the same on Sunday. A special request for a couple of folks to cover Saturday afternoon until tear down as Tim and Mark can't be there. We will have credit card readers available, and we need folks to lug lugs from the truck to put into people's cars, trucks, on their motorcycles, or even in their Lamborghinis.
Last Thursday we gathered for a Happy Hour at the Caddyshack.
We ate pizzas and wings and had good conversation. We were joined by Adam Daoust and had a good opportunity to learn more about him and his background. This is the second publishing of Adam for membership so we will be ready to have a Past Presidents meeting and then induct him into the Club at a regular meeting.
On Friday Garret, Tom Meyer, Mark, and Paul Johnson joined the crew golfing in the Valley Youth Center outing at Nemadji GC. I think that some of Garret's drives are still circling the earth. As with all golfing we were playing for pride and didn't have to give up too much while having lots of fun.
On Friday, September 2nd we will be back at the YMCA and our speaker will be Baihly Warfield an Anchor/Reporter from WDIO/TV. She should have some great stories to tell about her broadcasting career, and maybe they will sign on to sponsor Rock the Skyline. Duties will be; Invocation - Tom Meyer, Fellowship - Todd M. Johnson, and Greeter - Todd Peyton.
An important note for those of you who send mail to the Skyline Rotary mailbox. The Miller Hill Post Office where our box was is closing. The Club's new P O Box is 563, Duluth, MN 55801. The new address is on our website and has been reported to RI.
The Rock the Skyline committee will meet by Zoom at 4:30 this Wednesday, August 24th.
August is Rotary Membership Month.
Thought for the Week
“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in Democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in".
