Duluth Skyline Rotary is a member of Rotary District 5580
Skyline Rotary Meets weekly on Fridays at 12:00 PM.
We will be meeting both virtually using Zoom and/or in person at the Duluth YMCA:
This Friday 5/16 we will meet at the YMCA. We are planning a brief program and then heading out to do our Spring Highway Cleanup. Meet at Terry's Auto Body 5132 Rice Lake Road. The program will be a TED Talk by Katharine Hayhoe who is scheduled to speak at the RI Convention in Calgary. She is a climate scientist with a great message to share. She is featured in this month's Rotary Magazine.
No Duties this week.
The Board met today. We had a good discussion about Peach Sale yard signs which we decided to postpone until our first Peach Sale Committee meeting. Peaches should arrive 8/15. Greg is tracking down the specifics of set up for the Fourth of July Air Show. We are thinking that it will be on 7/3. 7/1 will be the Changing of the Guard and no meeting on Friday the 4th. Gus Olson is due home on 6/4 and will be our progam later in June. Our programs calendar is full until May 30th and then in early June. Maybe we can schedule a project or a summer picnic for one of those summer Fridays too.
A few Spring projects are coming up. We need to sand and stain the kiddo pinic tables that we built last year. We need to prep and coordinate planting the Kids Garden. The North Country Ride building needs to be power washed and stained. Schedule TBD.
Thank you Tim for organizing our social meeting last week at the CaddyShack. Steph and Chris were great hosts. Jim arrived by bike. Tim brought Arlo and Happy Birthday Deb brought Paul. A bunch of the crew took a tour of the upstairs that has been fully remodeled with meeting spaces and a workout area. It was great to see Hugo but bad to hear that he has a shoulder that needs some work, but don't we all. Steph told their story of looking at multiple buildings in the craft District before settling on their current spot in 2018. They have a very active winter indoor golf league and a shooting range. It was nice to have a beer with pizza, and birthday cake.
May is Rotary International Youth Services Month.
