This week's meeting will be held at the YMCA. This will be a hybrid meeting. The presentation will be a brief Retrospective by Alex Peterson of his time as a Rotary Exchange Student to Germany and how the experience positively impacted his life in these ten years since his experience. Duties are: Invocation - Ross Peterson and Fellowship - Kevin Kalligher. We will induct Suzanne Anderson into the Club as a transfer from Club 25.
At last week's meeting we welcomed back Student Rotarians from Proctor High School. What a joy to finally have them back with us. The students are: Shanna Isaacs, Hendrick Hicks, and Elaine Lynas. Other guests were Trish Crego and her daughter Lila. Kris Lee did the honors of inducting her friend Trish Crego into our Club. I so hope that Lila remembers fondly the special day that her Mom became a Rotarian. There were some exceptional reasons for happy bucks last week, but the biggest was the presentation by Todd Johnson to Chis Sward for winning a four wheeler at the annual Boys and Girls Club meeting. Congrats Chris. Congrats also to Rob and Kristen Shamblott on the birth of their grandson Levi Shamblott. Great news for Joe and Susan Dusek; their son is getting married.

The Starter Kit of materials for the Kids Literacy program arrived this week. They are fabulous. I will bring them to the meeting on Friday for all to review and discuss promoting with Hermantown and Proctor elementary schools.
The Saturday a work crew for the raised bed gardens at VYC Laura MacArthur Elementary School was cancelled due to rain, but rescheduled for this Saturday. This Saturday a crew is needed to rebuild the structures. Work starts at 10:00 until the work is done. 720 N Central Ave, Duluth, MN 55807 on the south side of the building.
October is Rotary Community Economic Development Month. New RI President Shekhar Mehta says, "When we work to improve the lives of people in underserved communities - through, for example, projects that provide vocational training and access to financial resources - we help build and sustain local economic growth".
Sunday, October 24th is World Polio Day. We will celebrate our success so far and raise some money for Polio by gathering at the Bent Paddle Brewhouse from 2:00 - 4:00. We have red World Polio Day t-shirts to wear so please ask for one. More details to come, but put it on your calendar for now.
