Today we met at the Kids Garden and worked with the kids to plant this year's vegetable bounty. The staff had cleaned up the garden beds and the kids were as cute as expected. Tom has ordered lumber for the kiddo picnic tables which we will cut, sand, and then assemble after an upcoming meeting. 

 

This evening Lindsey, Alex, Mark and Kadie Knudson all attended the Duluth/Superior ECO Club. Lindsey talked about the Lester River Rendezvous. Alex and Kadie talked about restarting Rotaract, and Mark talked about shirts for new members. 

 

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday, June 5th at 5:00 is the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival meeting at the Belknap Lounge at 130 Belknap St., in Superior. 

 

Next Tuesday, June 11th at noon is the June Board meeting at Bent Paddle and by Zoom. Everyone is welcome to attend. Lunch will be served.  

 

 

Ashley Anderson told us about their Early Childhood Family Education Program. They have 118 children from infants to preschoolers and a waiting list of 300. Morgan Bergman is in charge of the preparation and planting of the Kids Garden as she was last year. Foreman Tom already had plans online during the meeting for the picnic tables for the kiddos. We are very fortunate to be connected to the YMCA and their great programs for our community's children. 

 

Gus Olson, our outbound exchange student to Thailand will speak to us next Friday about plans for his trip. 

 

Kay Biga mentioned that there will be another Rotary evening at the Duluth Playhouse in September. It will be the dress rehersal before the opening of the "The Jersey Boys", the Tony award winning musical about the Four Seasons. I might have to sing along. 

 

June is Rotary International Fellowships Month.
