Next week, Friday June 9th we will be back to the YMCA for a presentation by Essentia CEO Dr. David Herman about the Vision Northland Project. Duties will be Invocation - David Lewis, Greeter - Ross Peterson, and Fellowship - Mark 

Following the meeting we will do our Spring Highway Clean Up. Meet at Terry's Auto Body 5132 Rice Lake Road. Vests, grabbers, and trash bags are provided. Boots, long pants, and gloves are recommended. 

 

The June Skyline Board meeting is on Tuesday the 13th at noon at Bent Paddle Taproom and by Zoom.   

 

Last week we met for lunch at the remodeled Skyline Lanes and then went on to tour Cirrus. The assembly plant parking lot was full. Cirrus has 2000 employees. Their propeller airplanes bodies are made entirely of fiberglass and the jets are made of carbon fiber. The bodies are held together with adhesives. The only bolts used are to attach the wings and engines. Parachutes on their planes have saved over 200 lives so far. A robot is one of the many high technology systems used in the manufacturing process. All of their planes are presold and built specifically for their customers. Jets cost approximately $3M and propeller planes cost from $500K - $1M. The past Airbus maintenance facility is now owned by Cirrus and will be used for product development freeing up space to expand the assembly plant. The plant shows every indication of being a very successful business with a bright future for employment in Duluth.      

 

Tom Meyer is working on a design for a Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab public area collection box. When he has it designed we will build it. Thanks Tom for taking the lead on this.
