Happy Thanksgiving! There is no meeting this week.
Our next meeting is Friday, December 2nd. The program will be by Best Christmas Ever.
Tonight was Thanksgiving dinner at Life House. Young people and staff enjoyed a full Thanksgiving dinner prepared and served by Rotarians. A humbling and grace filled experience for all.
December is a busy month. Please watch the Club calendar on the website for our activities and meetings.
We had a wonderful large group attending last week's meeting. Guests were Students Ava Hammitt, Gabe Foucault, Karley Glas, Felany Kirkpatrick, Jaydin Lind, Coiten Daneleski, and Dan Dock, Chuck Voss, and Colton Suihkonen, and our Speaker, John Collopy.
Ross Peterson our Foundation Chair led us in a Foundation Day discussion. He noted that our Club has donated $368,676 to the Foundation. Mark demonstrated donating online using rotary.org MY Rotary and Donate and then reviewing donation history. It is a simple process which results in the great humanitarian works of Rotary in our community and around the world. Please consider donating even a small amount every year.
Kevin Kalligher introduced John Collopy who is the the owner of RE/MAX Results, a real estate and title insurance company with 36 offices across Minnesota and Wisconsin and annual sales of $5.3B. John is also an author and gifted copies of his book, "The Reward of Knowing" to the Club. John's business success did not follow the usual path which is the story that he shared with us. His path included dropping out of school, addiction, anger, incarceration, and eventually sobriety and business success and happiness. It was a powerful message of overcoming obstacles. John called Kevin a Rock Star. John established a Foundation named for a friend and partner that will help to provide low income housing for children in need.
The Club received thank you cards from both Kristal Berg, Director of Community Education for building the Hawks Nest Stage and from the YMCA for supporting their Food Access Program.
November is Rotary Foundation Month.
Thought for the Week
