We will meet at the YMCA this Friday, January 20th, 2023.

This week we will continue with our Club Assembly discussion. The discussion last week was excellent, but our agenda was double what could be covered in one meeting. We will skip duties again to allow maximum time for discussion about our Club. This discussion will help to make our Club better.  Lunch will be by Tom Meyer. 

 

We passed the hat for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Proctor and members generously donated $426. That is enough for 16 children to receive a book a month in the mail for a year. Well done!

 

Our guests last week were Student Rotarians from Proctor Payton Reppe, Kendra Hansen, and Alexis Milbridge, Student Rotarian from Hermantown Lora Ferguson, and Colton Suihkonen.

 

Our January 27th meeting will be an "Invite a Guest" meeting. We always love to have guests whether they are family, friends, coworkers, or potential members. No pressure, just fun. We will talk briefly about Skyline and then meet our guests. Please start to think about who you want to invite. 

     

January is Rotary Vocational Service Month.  

 

Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He was a brilliant thinker, humanitarian, and speaker and so we know many of his famous quotes. Here are a few.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. 

There is nothing more majestic than the determined courage of individuals willing to suffer and sacrifice for their freedom and dignity. 

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education.  

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?"

The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice. 

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. 

Let no person pull you so low as to hate them. 

You can kill the dreamer, but you can't kill the dream.
