We will meet this Friday, May 10th at the YMCA. Our Student Rotarians will run the meeting next week so this week we will have lunch, socialize and head out for highway cleanup early. The weather forecast looks good for the cleanup. We meet in the parking lot of Terry's Auto Body at 5132 Rice Lake Road. We have bags, pickers, and vests.  No Duties this week. 

 

Monday evening Alex presented six scholarships to Proctor High School students at their awards ceremony. Students were: Payton Coughlin, Carlie Blevins, Gavin Tabbert, Abigail Schunk, Zak McPhee, and Cody Evers. Alex said that it was an awesome experience. We can all be proud to be supporting the youth in our community. 

 

Guests last week were; Fred Rouse from Harbortown, Dan Dock from Downtown, our speaker Phil LaFlamme, Paul Almirall, Kadie Knudson, and Cole Fechner.

We welcomed back Deb and Paul Almirall from their four month world cruise. Deb says that Aftenro would like us to do some painting. Judy Rogers has found a 4-Way Test plaque requested by Harry for a story board at St. Anne's about Joe Bullyan's generous contributions. Adam can use some help with parking at the Air Show. Fred Rouse brought some Harbortown raffle tickets for sale. 

 

Todd Peyton introduced Phil LaFlamme from the Rails Junior Football non-profit organization. Phil works as an electrical engineer at Enbridge, but helping youth build great moral character through football is clearly his passion. The organization had a very humble start with a few hundred dollars, a few volunteers, six coaches, and worn out equipment. All of that has    

improved as the community has seen the results of their focus that is stated in the Program Charter. The Charter identifies the Program Virtues of Integrity, Grit, Stewardship, Perseverance, and Accountability. Football in Proctor has become a path to building better people and citizens. Our Board will discuss helping to support their program. Thank you to Todd Peyton for bringing this great program to our Club.  

 

Next week will be busy. May Board meeting is Tuesday the 14th at noon at Bent Paddle and by Zoom. Thursday the 16th is the Air Show setup meeting at 9:00 at the Social House and then driving to the airport. Fuse New Member Mixer at 4:30 at the Depot. Saturday the 18th at noon at the Bent Paddle Festiversary.  

   

May is Rotary International Youth Services Month. Youth bring energy and enthusiasm to our Clubs. Rotary provides many opportunities for youth including Student Rotarians, Youth Exchange, Scholarships, The 4-Way Essay Contest, Interact and Rotaract, and many more.
