This Friday, October 13th we will meet at the YMCA. Our presenter will be Brad Olson, Scout Executive/CEO of the Boys Scouts of America Voyageurs Area Council. Duties are: Invocation - Tom Meyer, Greeter - Matt Wicklund, Fellowship - Garret Suihkonen.

This Wednesday, October 11th from 5:00 - 8:00 is set up at Bentlyville.

Rose pick up is Friday, October 13th from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Last week on Wednesday evening we filled 1,400 bags of food at Second Harvest. Thank you to the crew. There was also a strong crew from the College of St. Scholastica. We learned that the bags of food are discreetly placed in student's backpacks during lunch or recess to avoid any embarrassment. In September Second Harvest sent out 4,000 bags of food. Sad to know that there is that much need, but good to know that we helped.

Last week District Governor Dave Long was our presenter. We are thankful for the commitment that he is making in visiting all 62 Clubs throughout the District. He told us that the District exists to help Clubs to be successful. Dave encouraged us to apply for District awards. He told us about the concept of Rotary Community Corps is where a Club gathers the names in a community who are just interested in doing community service work, and then contacts them when service projects are planned.m Dave named the international organizations started by Rotarians including the United Nations. He spoke about his epiphany attending an International Convention in Sao Palo, Brazil when a 10 year old girl showed how even she could change the world. Dave hopes that every Club in the District will perform one mental health and one environmental project this year. Again, our thanks to Dave.

Russ is working on details for the "Trunk or Trinket" event at the YMCA. MEA is October 20th so kids are out of school. We will park cars with trunks towards the soccer field next to the YMCA. Bring trinkets or healthy snacks for the kids from the daycare and ECFE and maybe other kids too starting at 10:30 until 1:00. The Club will bring some healthy snacks and trinkets too.

October is Rotary Community Economic and Development Month.

Thought for the Week
"Environmental protection and economic development are not in conflict. Environmental protection is not a burden but a source for innovation. It can increase competition, create jobs, and lift the economy".
