Skyline Builds a Disc Golf Course for the Boys and Girls Club

Our Friday May 7th meeting was held at the Boys and Girls Club Camp on Island Lake. Skyliner Todd M. Johnson is CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northland, and he asked the Club to help build a 6-hole disc golf course at their camp on Island Lake. The camp property was donated by Minnesota Power and included a rustic cabin. Improvements to the property are being made to provide recreational opportunities for the kid campers such as boating, fishing, volleyball, biking, and now disc golf. We had a great crew, ate some lunch, and went to work. A two-person post hole auger was used to dig the two- foot-deep holes for the goal posts. Concrete was mixed and poured to secure the posts while Community Service Chair, Greg Kaake, ably leveled the posts. Many hands made light work and the project was completed in an hour and a half.  Project work was followed by fellowship and testing of hole locations by some Skyliner disc golfers. Some golfers were better than others as one disc needed to be retrieved from the lake. We were pleased to have the help of our two newest members, Jodi May and Stacey Johnson, along with PP Tom Meyer and the usual Skyline work crew. A project well done!
