Friday, October 2: Rotarians join Pine-River-Backus Interact members to distribute dictionaries to 3rd graders at Pine River Backus Elemenatry School.

Quinn Swanson and her PR-B Interact team were joined by Central Lakes Rotarians Cindy, Ruth and Linda on October 2nd to deliver dictionaries to 3 classes of 3rd graders at Pine River-Backus Elementary School.  The dictionaries were handed out to students and they played a few search games so they could discover the dictionary contained a great deal of information in addition to words and definitions.  They found the longest word in the English languag; it has over 1,909 letters and is a scientific/technical term.  We couldn't pronounce it for them.  They also found supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and liked being able to read that it means "something to say when you can't think of anything to say.  Timing of the dictionary distribution was perfect ~ the 3rd graders will be studying reference materials beginning next week!  The dictionaries were donated by the Central Lakes Rotary Club; each contains 2 stickers.  One sticker explains the dictionary was donated by Central Lakes Rotary and the 2nd is the 4-way test which we recited while explaining a bit about Rotary to them.
