August 3rd Meeting
Hi Everyone!

1) Our next meeting is Wednesday August 3rd, 2016 at the University of Waterloo - Stratford Campus at 6:30pm. Attached is the previous meeting minutes.
  • Instead of a regular meeting with an agenda, we will spend our time brainstorming ideas for future Rotaract fundraisers and potential timing of events.
  • Instead of our usual space, we have access to the upstairs terrace in the building to help get the ideas flowing. Please meet in the lobby for 6:30pm, and we will head up at 6:35pm.
2) The date for our Summer Club Social has been changed to Wednesday August 17th so that more people are able to attend. It will take place at the cottage Sarah is housesitting in Grand Bend.
  • The social will start at 6:30 and the potluck dinner will take place at 7:00 p.m. Bon fire to follow provided there is no fire ban. Rain or shine!
  • Laurie will coordinate a potluck sign up sheet. More details closer to the date but please mark your calendars
3) The Stratford Dragonboat Festival that Rotaract helps out at is on Saturday September 17th, 2016. Rotary donates $5000 to our club for helping so we need to make sure that we get every shift covered. Please consider volunteering for more than one shift and non-members can also volunteer. We help teams get in and out of boats on the island. Click on the link to sign up for a shift or two :) https://admin.clubrunner.ca/12940/VolunteerTask/List?VolunteerSignUpId=7b14a322-f54d-4b95-a373-109c9522e32b&SelectedId=ffee7d98-43a4-4fad-943e-665ee9611831

4) If you have missed a meeting, please send your make-up to Kelly Daum, our new club Secretary. kellydaum15@gmail.com. Or if you have volunteered at a Rotaract event such as Trivia Night or sub-committee meeting, send this to Kelly and she can bank it for a future meeting you may need to miss.

5) Don't forget to give your $20 club membership fee to a board member. The 2016/17 board members are as follows:
  • President – Sarah Merkel
  • VP – Laurie Brown
  • Past President – Braden
  • Secretary – Kelly Daum (also taking care of membership)
  • Treasurer – Katelyn Culliton
  • Members at Large – Raks and Jonathan
6) Finally, a dual membership in Rotary and Rotaract clubs is when Rotaractors can simultaneously hold separate membership in a Rotaract club and a Rotary club. So if anyone is interested in being more involved with a Rotary club but still be a part of Rotaract they can. Contact Tyler Canal for more information. tcanal@orrinsurance.net

I hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend!
