Hi Everyone,
1) Our Fall Social is this Thursday October 20th, 2016. It will be taking place at The Pour House/Wills starting at 6:30pm. Drop in for a drink and/or food for as long or as little as you like! Please RSVP to me by noon on Thursday letting me know if you can make it.
2) Shelterlink is opening their doors to us tomorrow at 1:00pm to check out the mattresses and bedding that we donated to their organization. If you are able to join, that would be great! (Sorry for the short notice). Stratford/Perth Shelterlink - 3rd floor, 130 Youngs St, Stratford, ON N5A 1J7
3) A BIG thank you goes out to all those who were able to come and volunteer at the Pub Crawl that took place on the Thanksgiving weekend. A HUGE kudos to Jonathan who took the lead coordinating the event this year.
4) If you have missed a meeting, please send your make-up to Kelly Daum, our new club Secretary. kellydaum15@gmail.com. Or if you have volunteered at a Rotaract event such as Trivia Night or sub-committee meeting, send this to Kelly and she can bank it for a future meeting you may need to miss.
5) Rotary is looking for Literacy Volunteers.
The Adult Learning Program is a community-based literacy and basic skills program that helps adults who are 19 years of age and older who want to upgrade their essential skills (reading, writing, numeracy, document use, digital technology). With the help of extra funding from the City of Stratford, we run basic skills upgrading classes at the Stratford Career Centre (partnering with Conestoga College) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2 pm.
6) Stratford Writers Festival
The Rotary Club of Stratford is hoping to establish a short-story writers competition, as part of the soon-to-be-launched STRATFORD WRITERS FESTIVAL, the inaugural season being October 22nd and 23rd. Soon!
This year, they're inviting anyone interested to attend a celebrity reading by two very exciting writers, C C Humpreys and Gail Anderson-Dargatz, at Knox Church here in Stratford on the 23 rd from 5 to 8 pm, with a chance to meet the authors over pizza in between the readings. Our Rotary club has purchased 50 tickets which we will be giving away, free, on a first-come first-served basis. Please contact Michael Fox if you are interested. michael_fox@rogers.com
7) Below are the minutes from our previous meeting. We agreed that we would put them right in the body of the email so it is easier to read on phones/tablets.
I won't be able to make our meeting on Thursday so I will see you all at the beginning of November.
