New members are always welcome! March 6 Meeting (see agenda & minutes below) Nothing fancy for this meeting. We will catch up on agenda items we didn't get through last meeting Location: The Local Community Food Centre, 612 Erie St. Stratford Time: 7pm Rotaract Sponsored Free Skate It was a successful event with more than 210 participants and approximately 120 pieces of fruit taken. Coldest Night of the Year Thanks to everyone for your support! Including Trivia, we raised approximately $1,193.55 and had a very crispy walk around the river. Stratford Robotics Team We donated $500 to the Stratford Robotics Team at SDSS. Here's an update from the teacher Andrew Bradshaw. "Ontario is one of the 3 biggest robotics hotbeds in the world (the others being Silicon Valley in California, and New Zealand). So the fact that all 4 of our teams from a small(ish) school in a small town qualified is impressive. And it's the first time it has ever happened. In the end, we did not qualify for the World Championships, which would have been a fantastic result. Despite falling short of their goal, they still have so much to be proud of, and I will remind them of that tomorrow at school. This season was exactly what education can look like: creative thinking, collaboration, conceptualization, researching, designing, building, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and iterating over and over again. They learned Project Management. They persevered through countless challenges and racked up hundreds of hours in pursuit of their goal. Many of the students have spent every lunch and every day after school in my classroom working on this project since September. I could not tell you how many hours that is."
