December 7th Rotaract Meeting
Hi Everyone,
 
1) Our next meeting is this Wednesday December 7th @ 6:30pm. The agenda is as follows:
- Brief committee updates & review of committees
- Events/fundraisers we have done to date and if changes need to be made
- 2017 local and international donation ideas
- New fundraising ideas for 2017
- 2017 calendar of events
- Interest in 2017/18 Board
Food will be provided!
 
For those of you who can make, let me know if you have any food intolerances/allergies by Tuesday. 
 
 
2) Our Christmas Social is just around the corner on December 15th at Escape from Reality on Erie St. The fee is $20+tax per participant. More details will be shared at our meeting this week.
 
3) If you have/will be missing a meeting, please send your make-up to Kelly Daum, our club Secretary. kellydaum15@gmail.com. Or if you have volunteered at a Rotaract event such as Trivia Night or sub-committee meeting, send this to Kelly and she can bank it for a future meeting you may need to miss. 
 
4) Below are the minutes from our November 17th meeting. Please check the attendance below and let me know if I made a mistake. My memory is shotty and I forgot to mark off the attendance that day.

Stratford Rotaract Meeting Minutes
Thursday November 17, 2016 @ 6:30pm
University of Waterloo, Stratford

1. Guest Speaker
Kelly Daum – Classification
  • Born and raised in Stratford Ontario.
  • The youngest of four children – has three older brothers.
  • Born with a ventricular septal defect – had open heart surgery at the age of 4 at the London’s Children’s hospital.
  • Took step dancing lessons at Judy’s school of dance and danced competitively for 8 years.
  • Attended St. Mike’s Secondary school – played volleyball and rugby. Was part of the first girls’ rugby team from St. Mikes to advance to the Ontario Finals.
  • Worked for Scotiabank from 2005 to 2009 and then went back to school.
  • Attended University of Guelph and majored in Criminal Justice and Public Policy. Graduated with distinction. Was shortlisted to be a nominee for the W.C. Winegard Award – the most prestigious academic award at the University of Guelph.
  • Continued working with Scotiabank after graduation and then worked for Libro Credit Union for two years.
  • In 2014, took a contract position as a Registration Services Representative at the Perth County Land Registry Office and has recently accepted a permanent full time position as Registration Services Officer.
  • Enjoys live music, reading, cooking and travelling.
  • Enjoys being outdoors. Plays volleyball twice a week, which has been a great way to meet people.
  • Heard about Rotaract through Laurie Brown, who she met working at Libro.
  • Likes the innovative, youth oriented culture of Rotaract where she has been able to network and make new friends, acquire new skills, and use skills developed in university including research skills and minute taking.
  • Has developed skills in project management, online administration, which will prepare for future careers.
  • Can contribute policy skills, like to think outside the box, dream big and take chances. Has a passion to make a difference in our community.

  • We need to name our teddy bear
    • Maybe hold a Social Media contest?
  • At our last trivia, $236 was contributed to the poppy fund. There were around 12-13 teams who participated in trivia.
  • We need to determine our 2017 dates of meetings.
    • Laurie will create as a meeting flyer
    • This list will need to be uploaded to Facebook.
