Hello Rotaractors! Hope everyone is well! A reminder that we are experimenting with the formatting of meeting agendas, this week our board will meet at 6:00pm to discuss club direction and the club will meet at 7:00pm at Jobsite Brewing in the back area. This week we will receive updates from the Board, Trivia committee, Volleyball event and Humane Society baking and as always we will have open club and idea sharing. Our Last Rotaract Meeting... Last meeting we were able to provide updates from past projects and upcoming projects. "Be An Angel" project Summary Sarah Merkel, project lead provided a project summary and thanked everyone who supported the successful project. A special thank you was given to the Festival City Rotary Club who was able to contribute financially and provide assistance in delivering the gifts. This year, the project was not able to obtain enough seniors through One Care, Mimi Price at the YMCA was contacted about older adults that may be interested in receiving gifts this Christmas through the program. The seniors who received gifts were very appreciative for the gifts and being wished a Merry Christmas. A photograph with Festival City Rotary members and Rotaract members was scheduled and will be posted in recognition of the great project. Rotaract Trivia Update The committee is reviewing environmentally friendly ways to reduce the green footprint currently used to run the trivia night. It was discussed and favored to reduce the size of the score cards until additional measures are taken. The next trivia date is February 12th. Stratford Chamber of Young Professionals Nick Preikschas discussed the great partnership that has been developed with this group and our sponsorship to the chamber hosted event. Nick spoke of the lesson learned about ensuring that attendance from our members be confirmed prior to larger sponsorships. This was a great opportunity to increase exposure and to increase our public outreach to possibly obtain additional members. Laurie Brown suggested sharing a mentorship mixer and will be further reviewed and discussed. Open Club Conversation & Idea Sharing SPCA Baking Fundraiser: SPCA reached out to Nick and would like the club to participate in the baking fundraiser as it is their largest fundraiser. A suggestion was to purchase supplies and have a social meeting to bake items. This will be further reviewed by members. District Rotaract Committee Update Laurie Brown provided an update from the District that they are looking for a District Representative. The role represents members throughout the region and noted that you would have a voice at district level. A requirement of being past Rotaract president or have sat on the district committee is a requirement. If interested, contact Laurie Brown by February 15th. London Rotaract Club is looking to get launched, provide outreach if you know of potential members. RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) This has been rebranded and called "Seminar for Tomorrows Leaders". A weekend event that is directed towards grade 11/12 students and focuses on leadership development. It was discussed for the club to consider sponsoring the event as other clubs have in the past. The sponsorship will be reviewed and considered. Future Board Members - Rebecca Price spoke and noted that she will be president in July and that she will be doing formal presentations about each of the board position. If interested in becoming a board member, please contact Rebecca. Accessibility - The importance of accessibility was brought up with venue selection. the club agreed that this is a very important item and will be prioritized to be more accommodating. Rotary Event - Wine Survivor. Kirk from the Festival City Rotary Club provided an update of the event that is hosted on February 14th at St. Pauls Optimist Hall.
