The club will use the Festival City Rotary Club Zoom account to host online meetings through zoom at this time.

Open Club Conversation:
Training Opportunity: Smart Serve Ontario is offering free training for the month of April. Erin will share the link in the Facebook group chat but you can also access it here:
United Way Community of Spirit: Rebecca watched the United Way Community of Spirit event and would recommend that everyone goes and watches this. It was a great way to get their message out there without being able to have people together.
Grant Opportunity: There is a COVID-19 grant for up to $10,000.00 from the District available to clubs for different service projects/supporting the community. Proposals for this are due April 9th. Dianne Yundt presented this opportunity so could be contacted for further information
Service Idea’s Brainstormed:
Nursing Homes/Retirement Homes: A member wondered about those living in nursing or retirement homes who are on lockdown and are unable to leave their residence or having people come to visit them. She wondered if there was a way that we as a club who could ‘adopt’ a Senior like we did with our Be an Angel to a Senior Project or have Rotaract members be set up to have phone calls with different residents to give them some conversation and human connection
Shelters: Children and women are at risk in their homes, especially during this time when people are restricted to their homes for the majority of their day. Supporting a shelter in some way could be a good way to give back to the community
Face Shields: The District 6330 Passport club is looking to raise $8,000.00 to be put towards face shields and other medical supplies for health care providers during COVID-19. This would cover the cost for approximately 1,000 face shields. If we were interested in doing something about this we could consider hospitals, in home care workers, community living, etc.
Foodbanks: The Markdale club set aside $500 to donate to a local foodbank and then challenged club and community members to give back and ended up raising over $2,000.00 for the food bank.
Public Clean-Up: A member proposed as part of the April 16th social meeting, to complete a personal garbage clean up of a local area and provide a picture to the club to include in a social media post.
