Hello Rotaractor! Unfortunately the current situation with COVID-19 is not improving in our area and we will continue to Social Distance ourselves from membership physical activities to help "flatten the curve". Our small community now and in the future days, weeks and months coming will need our help, so please keep your eyes and ears open for any way that Rotaract can help locally and globally. Room Number: 145 850 244 Password: BeTheGood This week at Rotaract... Our online club meeting will be at 7:00pm, right in the comfort of your home, with a twist. This weeks meeting is going to be water/underwater themed to keep inline with our speaker and have some fun with our online meetings. This week, our guest speaker is Julia Notebomer. Julia is attempting to swim across Lake Erie, a 20km distance to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Southwester Ontario foundation. Julia's swim is set to take place on August 30th, which is her 14th birthday and when Julia completes her swim she will be the youngest individual to complete this! Last Rotaract Club Meeting... Guest Speaker Rebecca Garlick, the Climate Change Coordinator for the Municipality of North Perth. Rebecca is on a contract position with the municipality and her role is to help understand the distribution of greenhouse gases and ways to decrease our greenhouse emissions. Rebecca is working on Stratford, St. Marys and Perth County's community greenhouse gas reduction plans. Rebecca was looking for input from our club to include in the plans and to better understand the communities the plans are being developed for. Rebecca wants the suggestions and plans to be attainable and provide excitement to the community. Rebecca's goals and focuses are to create a healthy environment, improving the natural environment of the areas and focusing on how this positively impacts the residents. Rebecca was able to provide very interesting statistics for green house gas emissions from the landfill, public transit and local farm productions. These statistics will be used with the plan to help provide awareness and provide opportunity to reduce the emissions and create a healthier environment. A recommendation to have Rebecca speak to the Morning and Lunch Rotary clubs to further direct information. Rebecca will provide further outreach to the club to help obtain information regarding collection. Trivia Committee Update: All trivia is postponed until further notice, this will be evaluated continuously. The trivia committee is in need of new members. We are mostly in need of people to be available to help out at the trivia night event. This includes helping with registration, collecting score sheets, and dividing up the money appropriately. The night has been made significantly easier with our new electronic scoring system. If interested, please contact the Trivia Committee. JobSite Trivia Committee Update: The committee has been unable to meet and discuss further details. Club Updates : The club will continue to host online meetings through Webex at this time. Venue Update: No update to report, we will evaluate the situation continually. Board Updates: Rebecca to provide correspondence regarding board positions. We are looking at recruiting new members for our next fiscal year, starting July 1, 2020. Stay tuned for an e-mail from Rebecca. Reach out if you have any questions Open Club Conversation: District Governor General 6330, Tony Sheard discussed the increased opportunity to help the community through the COVID-19 emergencies. Tony will help facilitate ideas amongst the other clubs to see how Rotaract can help. Spread some Cheer, Not a Virus: Laurie Brown discussed a flower chain to be posted on the district page. We would be responsible for the concept to help promote the Rotaract name. Rotaract Information: it was noted that due to the worlds situation, there may be more available time for members and it was discussed to use this available time to understand Rotary by researching through the district sites.
