Camp Facilities:
Kitchen/Dining Hall (30' by 76')
This fully winterized facility can accommodate 100 diners at a sitting. The building has two washrooms, one with a shower. Part of the basement is used for storage while the heated basement under the new dining hall has large windows and an outside entrance and provides a recreation and meeting room which is 35' x 30'.
The kitchen has 3 electric stoves, 2 refrigerators, 2 freezers, a walk-in cooler, and 2 outdoor barbecues. It is equipped with a wide array of pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. Small appliances include microwaves, toasters, a toaster oven, a mixer, and a coffee maker. A clothes dryer is available in the basement.
Decks overlook the lake.
Kirk Building(Four Season Dormitory) (30' x 48')
The Kirk Building is fully winterized with washrooms and showers. It can sleep 24 people, including two small bedrooms suitable for leaders. A fully-open finished basement (24' x 46') can be used for meetings and recreation.
Redmond Building (24' x 44')
This fully-open building (with a 10ft ceiling) is available for meetings and recreation. It is heated by a wood stove and has an insulated ceiling.
Vale House (36' x 24')
This 3-season residential building is divided into two sections. It has electric heat and can accommodate 24 people, including two bedrooms in each section for leaders. There is no washroom but users can use the washrooms in the dining building or the concrete block Wash House.
Summer Cabins and Wash House
There are six unheated cabins (12 1/2' x 16') which contain 4 bunks and can each sleep 8 people.
The wash house, a 3-season facility, has two sections (male and female) each equipped with toilets, sinks and a shower.
Grounds and Trails
The Camp is situated on 75 acres of woodland bordering Lake Mockingee. There is a marked hiking trail, the Blue Trail, which starts near the swimming area, follows the approximate boundary of the original Rotary Land, and ends near the Camp entrance. Depending upon age and fitness it is a 40-50 minute walk along a well-marked and reasonably easy trail.
A new trail beginning at the beach and following the shoreline of the original Rotary Land is planned for completion in 2009-10. This waterside trail will have beautiful views of the lake and the large rocks and shoreline. It will be a 30-minute walk, much of it through open hemlock forest. A third trail traveling through the Wood Family Nature Preserve is planned for completion in 2010-2011.
The large playing field has a baseball backstop, a basketball net, a volleyball net, and a campfire pit. The playgrounds will be enlarged and improved in 2010-11. Other safety-related improvements will be a part of these improvements. Firewood is provided for campfires and heating the Redmond Building.
The waterfront has a 100-foot gravel beach with a mostly sandy swimming area with a gradual slope into the deeper water. An enlarged grassed area above the beach and a replacement retaining wall and steps to the beach are planned for 2009-10. All safety equipment required by government regulations is provided.
