Guest Speaker: Sheridan Rabbitt from UQ’s Centre for Marine Science
Sheridan is a Senior Project Officer, Centre for Marine Science at the University of Queensland and is marine social scientist, specialising in gender- and nutrition-sensitive approaches to community-based fisheries management in the Pacific.
Sheridan is passionate about addressing the dual challenges of environmental sustainability and food security, while supporting livelihoods.
The Centre for Marine Science at UQ is one of the largest and most diverse groups of marine experts in Australia, comprising nearly 100 research-intensive groups.
An important point of focus for their research is the Indo-Pacific Marine Belt – the most biodiverse, populated, industrialised and threatened marine region in the world, with a mix of developed and developing countries that span the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
The Centre for Marine Science has an enviable record in developing and delivering knowledge, approaches and technologies for, and from, our oceans. They are always looking for ways to positively change and protect the world’s oceans, coasts and reefs.
