The Rotary theme for December is Disease Prevention and Treatment and we are especially encouraged to give thought to that area during this month. Next week, our guest speaker will be Professor Des Richardson of the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery.

Professor Richardson holds the Alan Mackay-Sim Distinguished Chair of Cancer Cell Biology at Griffith University and is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Senior Principal Research Fellow. He is also the Director of the Centre for Cancer Cell Biology and Drug Discovery. Prof Richardson’s research regards the discovery of anti-cancer drugs (such as Dp44mT and DpC) for the treatment of belligerent, intractable tumours (e.g., breast, skin, brain, lung, pancreas, prostate, colon, etc).

Professor Richardson’s presentation topic is Developing innovative anti-cancer drugs to overcome spread, resistance and primary tumour growth.

Partners & friends of Rotary are welcome to attend.
