Business Arising
Rotary 100 / 2020 District Conference
- 2020 Conference to be hosted by Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club
- A committee is formed in our club to support (Jim Merkley, Keith Buckland, and Bob Munroe)
- The Rotary Club of Sydney will be responsible for organizing the gala night (date pending)
- $5000 raised to provide to Sunrise club as "seed money" to be repaid following the conference if able.
Motion: A $5000 loan to be provided to Sydney Sunrise Rotary Club as "seed money" to support the financing of the district conference to be hosted by their club in 2020.
- Discussion: We are optimistic that this will be repaid given the history of district conferences being net profitable.

New Business
1) Speakers for Meetings
Members responsible: Jim & Todd
Discussion:
- Desire to have more speakers to increase quality of meetings.
- Action recommended: Encourage committee to visit this issue.
- Suggested ideas: Steve Lilly (Protocase), Kevin Orrell (NS Health)
2) Crossroads
Motion: Sponsorship of luncheon (Request for $500 and "hands-on" service)
Discussion: Positive experience last time, happy to support.

3) Boys & Girls Club Literacy Project
A document provided by Alister Hunston on a literacy project was reviewed at the meeting.
In the absence of a specific ask, this material was "filed as information".
Discussion: Directors felt that support of this project may be out of the scope of this club. Further discussion required.
4) Social Events
February 23rd = RI anniversary
Discussion to get a group together to attend the Scottie's Tournament of Hearts draw that evening with dinner prior to celebrate.
May Wine Tasting
- John and Irene Khattar have offered to host a wine tasting social at their residence in the Spring.
- To support this, they would require a small committee to coordinate the food and wine.
- They would provide the venue.
