Dan
- Swiss Mom and Scottish Dad
- Grew up in Tavistock
- Undergrad at U of G in Engineering
- Masters at WLU with MBA
- Met his future spouse in high school
- She attended U of Ottawa for undergrad and McMaster for med school
- They were married in 2016
- Have a two year old daughter
- Pastime focused on hockey playing weekly
- Busy life with young family and work commitments
- Works at WalterFedy in Civil Engineering
- Heavy on project management
- Heavy emphasis on water modelling/storm water management
- Projects are heavy on approvals and time to complete
- Joined Rotary as his small town upbringing showed him the importance of volunteerism
Vanessa
- Family roots in Canada go back to the early 1900’s when her Great Grandpa came to Canada alone at 11 years old.
- Born in Sudbury
- Moved to Waterloo at 9
- Queens undergrad in Mining Engineering
- University of Wisconsin for Masters in Engineering
- Met her future spouse at a charity slo pitch tournament for a water treatment charity
- Have been married 11 years
- 3 kids 8, 6, 4
- Favorite pastime is baking/cooking
- Works at Pinchin as a Geotech Engineer
- Involved in soil analysis
- Uses samples from bore holes to determine soil loading
- Was involved in the recent ION project (and got a free ION mug to celebrate)
- Interesting fact-was on Holmes on Homes tv show
- Did a report for Holmes and thought that was the end of it and then a few months later got a shooting schedule
- Saw lots of the tricks of camera taping and timing
- Joined Rotary to give back to the community and because of the club’s focus on children
