Duane Eby presented to the club a summary of his attendance April 26th at the Graduate Student Fellowship Symposium held at the Ballsillie School of International Affairs.
Rotary Clubs of our cluster were invited to the Graduate Student Fellowship Symposium to recognize and thank us for our support for the Rotary Peace Scholarships. Students presented policy briefs to faculty for feedback in preparation for briefings to Global Affairs Canada (GAC) that will take place in June. These policy briefs will contribute to the foresight and research activities of GAC in the areas of artificial intelligence, human rights, development, migration, trade, global finance and the environment. The lunch featured a keynote speech by Paul Meyer, former ambassador and Permanent Representative to the office of the UN and the Conference on Disarmament. He gave a thumbnail sketch on Canada’s role in nuclear weapons prohibition. Duane expressed his gratitude on being involved in this event and pride at recognizing that our involvement may be making a difference towards world peace.
