He asked that these hours should be notified to the secretary so that they can be included in our total.
Proposed $1,000 to be donated to the Eastern states flood appeal and $1,000 to be donated to Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) for Ukraine aid. Both proposals agreed by the members present.
Members volunteering at the RAT pick up site at Minters Fields have raised over $3,000 for the club.
James and Treasurer Rod Cooper attended a meeting concerning public benevolent fund where grants up to $5,000 could be available but the criteria excludes some of our projects like our Coke van.

Donut van takings at the Cupid Koi Gardens event were very good. Thanks for those who volunteered.

Conquer the Summit on 27th March requires many volunteers and it’s very pleasing that the work roster is full. Dave Gilles will manage this event.
The Dirt & Off Road Campers BBQ on 2nd & 3rd April will be managed by Rod Cooper.
Other events coming up are Sophie’s Open Garden over Easter 16th – 18th April, Nature Play Forest Festival 20th & 21st April and Anzac Day 24th April. The traditional Gunfire Breakfast will not take place but many covid marshals will be required for the service. Rosters will be circulated later.
Dave Gillies,Conquer the Summit Committee Member
The Conquer the Summit roster is full but if any members not on the roster wish to get involved there are places for them. This is a very worthwhile event as it raises about much needed dollars for Operation Flinders.
Treasurer, Rod Cooper
The RSL have thanked us for our help with their projects and Rod thanked the RSL member who assisted us on the donut van at the Cupid Koi Gardens event.
The RAT testing volunteers raised thousands of dollars , many thanks to them.
Numbers are required for meeting on 11th April when we are hosting the RSL. Cost of this event is $37.
Charitable status for the club is a complex matter and will be discussed by the Board.
Eftpos transactions are now the main source of income at club events.
Wine order forms are now available.
Guest Speakers, Ric and Kathy Horn
James introduced the guest speakers.
Ric and Kathy undertake the coding for the re-assembling of the re-located playgrounds in our Rotary Overseas Relocated Playgrounds (RORP) project.
This is a very complex and time consuming task but is essential to enable the recipients of the playgrounds to be able to re-assemble them safely and properly.
Plans and photographs are produced with colour and number coding for parts. Special tools are needed which complicates the process.
This is a major task for Ric and Kathy and explaining the various steps was most enlightening.
The RORP committee is extremely grateful for their work but reminded us that it is a huge commitment and Ric and Kathy will be pleased to have some assistance.
James and the members thanked Ric and Kathy.
Coffee catchup every Wednesday at 10.30 am at the Laratinga Cafe, 6 Dutton Rd, Mt Barker.
Sergeant Ian Rose then took our money and made us laugh as usual.
President James closed the meeting with the following quote:
‘Bad things happen in the world, like war, natural disasters, disease. But out of those situations always arise stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things’.
