Guest speaker,Rod Cooper, Web Master and Treasurer
  •  Rod outlined how useful the Rotary Brand Centre can be to construct logos, business cards and other Rotary insignia which conform to the Rotary standard. Using a powerpoint display, he demonstrated the templates available. This information was particularly relevant as there has been recent discussion around confusion about the correct Rotary Standards.
  • Rod informed us that a 12 page document “Public Relations Guide” is also available. It will enable us to produce fully formatted documents which are ready to go to the printer. This may be particularly relevant for Jack Cooper.
  • As a Club, we try to follow the correct procedures.

Peter Schaefer, Art Show  Sub Committee Chair
Art Show  Sub Committee Chairman
  • President James reminded us that the brief that Peter and his committee was given, was to investigate the role of Rotary in running the Art Show. He was asked to make a recommendation as to whether we accept or not accept taking it on as a Club project.
  • Peter recommended that we do not proceed with it, and that the Districy Council of Mount Barker be advised.
  • Reasons why included that the Art Show is held during SALA when our Club has a lot on.eg The Royal Adelaide Show. Other Rotary Clubs who currently run an Art Show are experiencing difficulties with the amount of work it requires from an aging cohort of members. There was a real concern that it would not be a money earner for us.
  • Marg Inglis advise that she thought Inkpot may put in an application to run it.
  • President James thanked Peter and his committee for a thorough investigation.
  • President James called for a vote from the floor supporting Peter’s recommendation Everyone voted in favour. President James recorded that this meeting Apologies,Penni Taylor,Jack Cooper and Mary Roebuck
  • Vote to support the recommendation that we do not proceed with the Art Show
Det Voges  SES
Det gave an entertaining and informative speech about the SES in Mount Barker.

The emergency phone contact for the SES is 132500. The SES can help with downed trees, flooding etc. Sand bags are available from an open box beside the door of the SES station.
This may be very pertinent given the rain we are experiencing.
Thank you to Det and all the other volunteers.
Sergeant Ian Rose:   Once again managed to get blood out of stone.

President James closed the meeting  with the following quote:

As seen in a Hahndorf Business

"Dear People
If you must buy imported crap, Don’t bring it to me to repair."

Meeting closed  at 810pm.
