A Keynote Speaker on Day Three of the 2017 Rotary District 9520 Conference was ABC Journalist, Sabra Lane.

Sabra was a Long Term Youth Exchange Student to Norway in 1986 sponsored by the Rotary Club of Irymple.

Sabra Lane is regarded as one of the best political interviewers and most astute journalists in the country.

At the District Conference in Mt Gambier (April 27-30, 2017) Sabra shared centre stage with current international students from Irymple and other local District Clubs.

Maree Hermanns (Germany), Coaio Marconi (Brazil), Franci Gheza (Italy) and Colette Prost (Canada)

Sabra was comfortable in this company. As a student at St Joseph's College (Mildura), she was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Irymple on a Long Term Youth Exchange to Norway in 1986.

Her presentation to the 2017 Conference Delegates was titled by Sabra as "Norway - The year that became a life-long inspiration". She expressed her gratitude to Rotary and in particular the LTYE Program.

Sabra said that she was proud and honored to be sponsored by Irymple and greatly admired the work of the Club in the local Sunraysia Community.

Sabra began her journalism career in 1989 in Adelaide as a reporter/producer for the Ten Network.

Before going to Canberra Sabra was a reporter for ABC Radio Current Affairs in Sydney, as well as regular fill-in Executive Producer on AM, The World Today and PM. Prior to joining the ABC she was EP of the Seven Network’s weekly national news and public affairs program Sunday Sunrise for more than four years. She also helped produce Seven News’s coverage of the Sydney Olympics.

She has been covering federal politics in Canberra since 2008 and has been Chief Political Correspondent on nightly TV current affairs programs on the ABC. Sabra recently accepted the role as producer of the very sucessful and highly recognised ABC morning current affairs, AM.

During her visit to the Conference at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre in Mt Gambier, Sabra caught up with and spent time with current LTYE Student at Irymple, Colette Prost from Canada and Club Member, John Fitzgibbon.

Sabra and her presentation was a hit with 2017 LTYE Students Maree, Franci, Coaio and Colette during morning tea break on Sunday.
