Club News
In July with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions club members turned their thoughts to returning to dinner meetings. Whilst Zoom meetings proved invaluable, they had there downsides.

Discussions were held with RSL personnel regarding returning to that venue. Unfortunately their circumstances had changed and our patronage was no longer wanted.

A search for a new venue commenced. Members considered a few options and the Belair Hotel was selected.
However, this has meant a change of meeting evening from Tuesday to Monday.

We now meet on 1st & 3rd Monday evening at 6.00pm for 6.30 pm at the Belair Hotel.
Visitors are welcome.

President Robyn Venus
This year the Rotary Club of Blackwood celebrates 50 years.

The inaugural meeting of the Club was held at the RSL Club on Tuesday 18th August 1970

Our Charter certificate with the seal of Rotary International affixed is dated 14th September 1970.
The Rotary motto on this certificate is “Service above Self, He profits most who Serves Best”
The Service above Self motto was chosen because it best conveys the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service.

Charter night, 17th November 1970 took place at the Tonsley Hotel, Clovelly Park.

We have all seen the disastrous fires that have erupted, taking lives as well as destroying hundreds of homes and properties across Australia.

Rotary Australia is once again taking the lead and looking to provide support for families in need. To this end several Rotary Districts and Clubs have established projects which are ready and able to accept donations from you.

Should you or your club wish to donate to one or more of these RAWCS projects, please click the appropriate project.

The Rotary Club of Blackwood recently made a donation of $1,000.00 to the Uniting Church of Blackwood to support their Mainly Music programme for children.

The donation will assist in the purchase of a new larger silk parachute, a new wireless head microphone and new children's chairs for their ever expanding music programme.

Sue Dolman, wife of immediate Past President & current Youth & Vocation Director of the Rotary Club presented the cheque on behalf of the club to Carys Penney.

Carys and the other organisers were rapt at the generosity of the club and most appreciative of the club's support.

Sue took the opportunity to remind all parents and children present about the forthcoming Rotary Christmas Fair. She highlighted the fact that money raised by the Rotary Club at this and other events are donated back to the local community.
