Holiday Season 2015
Christmas Tree Lighting, Feeding Others of Dartmouth Fundraiser, Coat Check Fundraiser and an update on the Chase the Ace Fundraiser!
In addition to the Christmas meal Deliveries, Lobster Dinner for Halifax Hospice, Rotary 4 Change Fundraiser, here's an update on other holiday events with rotarians from Dartmouth East
Christmas Tree Lighting:
As we do every year, Rotarians provided some security help and guidance for members of our community during the Christmas tree lighting at Sullivan's Pond in Dartmouth.  It was a beautiful warm evening with fireworks that went off smoothly.  Always an enjoyable evening doing our little bit in the community.
Feeding Others of Dartmouth Fundraiser:
On Sunday, December 6, Rotarians John and Eleanor provided a coat check for a Margaret's House Fundraising event held at the Holiday Inn Harbourview.  The coat check generated an additional $300 donation that evening for Margaret's House - a meaningful contribution to such an excellent organization.
Holiday Coat Check Fundraiser at the Holiday Inn:
Several Friday/Saturday evenings in late November and December, Rotarians volunteered their time to provide a coat check service at holiday events at the Holiday Inn Harbourview.  Donations were given for various Dartmouth East projects.   At one event, some interactors from Dartmouth High provided the coat check service for their club fundraising efforts.
Chase the ace update:
Chase the ace is every Saturday from 7pm-9pm at Staggers Pub and Grub ( 26 Portland Street Dartmouth) so far we have raised over $400 for youth exchange and have a Jackpot of approximately $250 and it's still growing on a weekly basis.  Come out an enjoy some food and drinks and support a youth in our community as he takes part on a journey for the 2016-17 year.
The youth exchange committee has selected a student for next year who hopes to go to a country in Asia. The Dartmouth youth has completed the Silver level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and is very active in the Dartmouth Community with volunteering at St Margaret's House.
Stay tune for more youth exchange news...
