The first organizational meeting of the Rotary Club of Bridgewater & District was held at the N.S.C.C. Lunenburg Campus on April 20th, 1995. The meeting was organized by Lyman Jackson, the Past District Governor of District 7820 (1993-4) of the Yarmouth Rotary Club with the assistance of Harry Churchill, President of the Halifax Rotary Club. A second organizational meeting was held at the same location on May 9th, 1995 and a third organizational meeting was held at the Wandlyn Inn in Bridgewater on May 29th,1995.

Regularly scheduled meetings of the proposed Rotary Club of Bridgewater & District began on Monday, June 12th, 1995  at the Wandlyn Inn in Bridgewater with a meeting time of 12:15pm. The meetings became regular weekly meetings, commencing September 11th, 1995.

An Application for Membership dated February 12th, 1996 was filed and submitted with a list of 27 charter members to Rotary International to formally charter the club. 

The Rotary Club of  Bridgewater & District was officially chartered on March 20th, 1996 with a Charter Dinner held on May 10th, 1996 at the Wandlyn Inn in Bridgewater. Members of numerous Rotary Clubs including the sponsor clubs of Yarmouth and Halifax were in attendance. District Governor Lloyd Osmond presented the Charter and addressed the gathering.
