Club Meeting: American Cancer Society Discovery Stop
Caron Russell, the manager of the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in Auburn, spoke to us about the ways they help cancer patients and the store.
Caron explained that the main ways they help patients are with housing and transportation while getting treatments. They work with partners to find patients who can use their help. Of course, they also provide money for research and advocacy.
The major way they raise funds is through the Discovery Shop, which is a high-end thrift store. If you are looking for furniture, clothing, or other things, please stop by at 2376 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn, CA.
You can see her presentation on our Facebook page.
With support from The Rotary Foundation, our club was able to provide the Guardian Scholars program at Sierra College with 11 laptops. The Guardian Scholars is a program that supports current and former foster youth. They will distribute these laptops to student that need them to help with their education.
