Guest Speaker:
Mike McKenzie- General Manager from the Kitchener Rangers
The Rangers goal is to build a successful and sustainable sports organization and culture within the organization. The organization has two sides: - Business: 10 full time employees who work in Marketing, accounting, etc.. – Hockey: Coaches, video coaches, trainers, etc.. Mike oversees the Hockey side.
The organization aims to focus on the athletes on physical, mental and social development. There are further break downs, in each category where they bring in people to assist in working with the athletes on these three areas.
The organization culture and expectation is centred around the following: School, Respect, Coach Ability/Accountability, Complaining & Negativity, Fun and Winning. All members of the support team for the players work on making them mentally tough, both on and off the ice. If they stick with the process for both on and off the ice, results will come in the short and long term.
The Rangers rules for the players:
- Always Compete – Do your job
- Respect – for all involved
- No Complaining – Deal with adversity & failure.
The clubs main goal is in developing the players.
GO RANGERS GO!
