President Troy Stuebing and Marc Engel thank guest speaker Barbara Robinson
Speaker: Barbara Robinson
What an informative presentation on Sanitary infrastructure with Barbara's wealth of knowledge as a professional engineer with an abundance of experience in private sector in waste water and other systems with the City of Kitchener.
She is "passionate about sewers " and stressed that the most important part of a city's infrastructure is the sewers because we can't live for health reasons without them!
These sanitary sewers that have a 75 year life, collect waste water from our homes to treatment plants and out to the Grand River! In the centre of the roadway, the higher man holes provide access and in this area require replacements and repairs! It's a big job moving underneath things around as we have experienced with the laying of the railways around KW.
Her words of caution were to be aware of what we put down the drain! No tissue, paper towels and flushable wipes as they cause big problems!

Blood Donor Clinic
In April we have an opportunity to do some community service and volunteer at the KW Blood Donor Clinic on Bridgeport Rd in Waterloo. We are looking for Rotarians to work 2 hr shifts during the week of April 24th to April 29th. The four clubs in the area are also participating and so we are only looking for 2 Rotarians per shift and this is a great way to promote Rotary within the community as well as get some community service in as well. More to come on this but wanted you to be aware of the dates.
Below is the link that you can use to go in and sign up for shifts if interested in doing so.
