Our guest speakers today were Moni Lagonia, Dave McLelland and Jean Howitt, who provided the Club with a brief presentation on the Athlete of the Year and local Award of Excellence programs.
The Athlete of the Year recognizes excellence in local athletes from Kitchener, Waterloo, Wilmot, Wellesley and Woolwich. These athletes are the best in class and are selected from thirteen different sports, participating in local, national and international events.
The recipients of the Awards of Excellence are local athletes who have been recognized for not only their achievements but also for what they have done to participate in and give back tot he community. These athletes are recognized at an annual dinner event. This year is the 20th anniversary of the awards program and a larger dinner event will be held on May 16, 2018 at Bingeman's.
