-Kelly introduced our guest speaker.

-Ann is a longtime employee of KW Habilitation, has been an important part of the tremendous growth of the organization.

-organization is a local non-profit providing a wide range of individualized services and supports to children with any special need and adults with developmental challenges.

-with a budget of over $30m year, work with over 150 employees.

-a number of divisions to the organization.

-offer 26 different homes across the region- "inclusive living"

-ventured into the affordable housing game years ago.

-long waiting list for people looking for affordable housing.

-work with many local organizations.

 

Questions from club

What is the biggest challenge facing the organization in the next 5 years?

-Funding-they are not able to rely on government, need a business model, rental income helps, need to focus on raising funds.

Is the organization concerned about fundraising and completing with other organizations like the new hospital?

-they look for smaller donations, look at fundraising differently, need to consider fund development. Fundraising is down since COVID, developing a relationship with donors is critical.
