Meeting held at Concordia Club
Lunch Trivia – Who was our Club President in 2010-11? Karin Voisin responded with the correct answer – Cheryl Hugill.
Our 50/50 draw had a total pot of $90. Marbles were drawn by Graham, Troy (drawn by Laura) and a guest of John Rose, Dryden D. Unfortunately (or fortunately...) the black marble wasn’t found and the pot will continue to grow.
Our guest speaker needed little introduction – Paul Puopolo!
Paul shared his story with the club which has included a life time of community involvement both personally and professionally. Professionally, Paul’s career in Urban Planning and Land Development started in 1973. Paul started his first company – McMurray and Puopolo Inc. in 1978 and grew and transitioned this company through the 1980’s through to 2007 when he sold his firm Planning and Engineering Initiatives Limited to IBI. Following Paul’s retirement from IBI he set-up his new firm Polocorp Inc.
Paul’s career has seen him work on major projects at Wilfred Laurier University, significant greenfield community development in Kitchener and Cambridge and urban redevelopment projects including the most recent approvals for land located at Mill St and Ottawa St in Kitchener.
Paul join Rotary in 1985 and was our Club President in 1998-99. Paul’s year saw the first female members join our Club.
Paul’s presentation concluded with a great discussion and question and answer period focused on growth and development in Waterloo Region.
