President Troy reminded members about Dave Barth’s email regarding dates for the school build in Honduras. Please contact Dave if interested so that we can confirm some dates and move forward.

Rick Bolzon spoke about the Blood Donor Clinic happening next week. Bridgeport and Weber Donor Clinic. Mention our clubs name when you go in to help our “team goal”. Reminded that we have won the team blood donor drive for the last few years amongst Rotary Clubs

50/50 - $236 up for grabs. Mac Graham’s guest, Michael Dogantzis, Spencer Yule and Graham Gardner were all called with wide-eyed anticipation. The black marble remained elusive. The pot lives one!

SPEAKER:

Linda Ripley, volunteer with the Waterloo Central Railway, spoke about understanding our history and how that helps us move into the future. Part of the beauty of history is the ability to reclaim what once was, to not just study it but fully immerse yourself in it and live it. That’s exactly what the Waterloo Central Railway does. Rails at the turn of the Century, and even earlier, were a source of travel, cargo shipment, they moved troops, and they connected countries. An amazing history in its own right.

The Waterloo Central Railway is a recreational passenger train that runs on a historic railway branch between the St. Jacobs Market, the Village of St. Jacobs, and the town of Elmira, just outside of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Their purpose is to preserve and recreate the excitement, romance, and history, of rail travel within our community through fun and educational, hands-on experiences with working steam-powered locomotives. There are several volunteer opportunities; whether you want to get your hands dirty with the mechanics of the train as an engineer, conductor or help to create an exciting experience for the guests with role play, stories and other acting opportunities.
