President Karen thanked Gerald for his presentation to the club.

Announcements:

John Thompson noted that the Fellowship Committee is looking to organize a Kitchener Rangers Fellowship Event against (perhaps) our near rival Guelph Storm. By show of hands John asked for input on what game day would be most preferable (Friday, Sunday or Tuesday). Stay tuned for further information from John.

President Karen remined everyone of the District Conference on Oct. 3. Karen will be attending and would love for other Club Members to join.

The 50/50 prize pot is sitting at $301.00 - and spoiler alert it continues to grow as Gerald, Mac and Dave were all unsuccessful in finding the black marble.

2030 will mark 125 years of Rotary.

Rotary International’s goal for membership by 2030 is 1.25 million members, worldwide.

Equates to 2% growth per year, the bulk of which, is expected in Asia, Latin America and Africa.

Our Club goal is an annual Net growth of +1. We currently sit at 42 Active members so, we are looking to reach minimum, 45, by 2030.

2026 Strategic Plan

Pillar # 4 – Membership-Actions directed at three areas

1. ATTRACTION

2. ENGAGEMENT

weekly meeting ATTENDANCE + PARTICIPATION in service, fundraising and social activities

3. EXPECTATIONS

Weekly meeting attendance and participation in fundraising activities

ATTRACTION

Three main reasons why people join Rotary:

1. Desire to SERVE their local and world community.

2. Desire to expand beyond their VOCATIONAL network.

3. Desire to expand their socail network.

Initiatives

District initiatives through RI website and RD website to attract prospects and handle their interests.

Club initiatives through ClubRunner, Facebook and LinkedIn such as the recent YouTube video.

Attraction is every member’s responsibility:  Each one, Bring one!

Classifications

We have a membership that is diversified by age, gender and classification.

But we have several Classification gaps, including;

Business owners of applied trades

Health Care professionals

Educators-School, colleges and universities

 Process

Invite your Prospect to a weekly meeting.

Introduce your Prospects to Karin Voisin and/or Gerald Menezes.

Together, we will take it from there.

Following the introductory meeting, your Prospect gets two free lunch “feeling out” meetings.

Each one, Bring one.

President Karen and Michelle present a cheque for $1,000 to Sherry Jones for Diabetes Canada.

Club Donation

This week we were joined by Sherry Jones speaking to us in support of Lace Up for Diabetes. Sherry is the local volunteer coordinating the third annual local Lace Up for Diabetes walk to be held in Waterloo Park on October 10th. Sherry became involved in supporting diabetes after her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was young.

The Lace Up for Diabetes walk raises funds in support of research, grants, patient resources, help lines and government advocacy. Over the past three years the local Lace Up walk has raised over $41,000! Our Club has been the longest return sponsor of the walk and we made a formal cheque presentation of $1000 to support Diabetes Canada.

Ian Robertson has circulated an email for a Rotary Team to join the walk this year.
