50/50 Draw

The pot continues to grow!  Neil, Brandon and Gerald all drew marbles.  The black marble evaded them and with less than 10 marbles left there will soon be a winner.

Guest Speaker

We heard this week from Heather Tsarfadi a Pelvic and Orthopaedic Physiotherapist.  Heather shared information on the pelvic floor. She noted that although Kegel exercises are the number one recommended suggestion for pelvic floor issues.  However, depending upon the cause of the problem this may not be the most effective solution.  This is why a thorough examination by a pelvic floor specialist is recommended.

Pelvic floor issues affect 1in 3 women and 1 in 6 men.  Although, more common in older demographics, young people can also be affected.

The pelvic floor are the muscles as the base of the pelvis.  The body needs these muscles to control bowels and urine.  Kegel exercises strengthen pelvic floor muscles.  The goal is the strengthen the muscle and help them to bounce back.  However, some conditions like pain, constipation, painful intercourse, and difficulty draining urine may be due to the muscles being too tight.  In this case the treatment plan involves relaxation techniques to relax the muscles.

We thanked Heather for an informative presentation about a topic that most people do not talk about.

Our recent visit to MIX

MIX isn’t a typical technology hub. MIX is a network of like-minded, Canadian medical and health technology companies who share the same vision and purpose; to grow their business in their own backyard, support patients and clinicians with truly innovative solutions and pay-it-forward by helping other medtech companies grow and succeed.

Kitchener-Westmount Rotarians support Food for Kids at a recent fundraiser, and had fun doing it!

Fellowship event at Schmidtsville Restaurant and Gift Shop in Wellesley.

Thanks to John Thompson and Jim Kibble for organizing a great dinner/meeting event at Schmidtsville Restaurant and Gift Shop in Wellesley.  Forty-three members and guests enjoyed a delicious home-cooked buffet, heard from owner Miriam of the history of Wellesley and the restaurant, and laughed with Gary Chalk at the foibles of retirement.
