This week the 50/50 pot was $265.70 - Three lucky Rotarian's (Judy, Michelle and Chuck) all had the opportunity to find the winning marble, but they did not. Better luck next time!
Guest Speakers:
Kathryn McEwin and Melissa Schiedel - Camino Wellbeing
Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities as they work to strengthen their mental health and wellbeing.
Kathryn spoke about what makes a community and how Camino plays a role to help foster a community for individuals and families. They provide Counselling for individuals and families, they host groups and workshops and youth engagement and development. The goal is to build a space where people can ask for help.
Melissa is the Youth Engagement Coordinator and spoke about the many ways Camino engages with Youth. One big youth engagement program is the annual Gingerbread House Building Competition which has been supported by our club for years. Melissa explained how, the gingerbread competition is really so much more than just playing with graham crackers and candy. The gingerbread competition helps youth to develop time management, budgeting, planning and team work skills in a space that is safe to fail and fun at the same time.
Meliss also spoke about other on-going Camino programs including the development of a Youth Development Fund aimed at supporting youth looking to attend conferences, take training, or to purchase entrepreneural supplies. In addition Camino is always looking for funding support for their programs to help youth grow, learn and succeed. They provide funding for things like skill development to support resume building and employment opportunties.
