Announcements:  There were a number of birthdays and anniversaries – too many to catch, so happy birthday and happy anniversary to those members and their partners celebrating this week.

 

Guests:  Nick Burke was the guest of his lovely wife, our own Michelle Burke.  

 

50/50: The pot was up to a mere $40 after Todd’s amazing win a couple of weeks ago.  Neither Doug, Todd, or Owen could find the elusive marble so the pot begins its march forward.

 

 

 

The guest speaker, presented her Who Am I, was one of our newest Rotarians Brooke Outingdyke.  A young, vibrant, and seemingly always smiling member, Brooke told us of her athletic past, where her passion was hockey.  Born and raised in KW, she only flew for the first time in 2021, and calls herself an avid “vacationer”, heading to sunny locals for all inclusive resorts, but hopes to “travel” more to other locations as life permits. 

 

She calls herself a big country music fan, and is most comfortable in her cowboy hat, and heading to concerts, when she isn’t having girls’ nights, or enjoying sleepovers with her family pet dog Winnie.  She nurses the occasional hangover, or late night trying new café’s throughout the city.  

 

Coming from a blended family, Brook describes her siblings as looking alike despite many not sharing any genetic lineage.  She is very close with her family and managed to live amongst them during Covid despite the tight surroundings. 

 

Her post-secondary education took her to University of Waterloo focussing on geography, but like so many people, she soon learned that her interests may lie in different directions than those originally planned, where she had been focused on becoming a teacher.  

 

She eventually found that her passion and skillsets were best suited for a different career, and she moved to Conestoga College for a public relations program.  She spent her co-op terms with great local companies such as Economical Insurance, Tri-Mach, Huron Creek Developments where she began working part-time.  Later on, she moved to Enns Real Estate, and now works with McIntyre Real Estate where she recently completed the requirements to become a broker.  She loves the crazy life and different hours of today’s residential marketplace.  

 

Brooke joined Rotary to rekindle her desire to help the community, which she did a lot of when she was younger.  Her passion to give back, and maybe try to attract younger people to the group is what drives her as one of our newest, exciting, positive members with great potential.
