Meeting Notes:
President John welcomed Club Members plus our guest Morgan Anderson from the KW Art Gallery (KWAG).
Our 50/50 Draw was exciting with a total pot of $435.00 up for grabs. New member John Anderson (more on John later) drew the first marble with no luck. Same result for Todd and surprise visit by Jake Thomas. The 50/50 pot continues to grow.
Induction – John Anderson
Past President Brandon was given the honour of reading the induction to officially welcome John Anderson as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Westmount.
Who Am I
Our clubs newest member John introduced himself to the club.
John is married and has two children (Bennett and Briar). They live in Elmira. John is the owner operator of the new Canadian Tire store at Stanley Park Mall. John’s professional life has been in the Retail Sector with many years spent at Loblaws, and Sobey’s. John’s career has taken him from Waterloo Region to Parry Sound, to London and now back to Kitchener. When joining Canadian Tire John was faced with the potential of landing anywhere in Canada, which as he said makes for an interesting discussion with his wife and family at the time. As it turned out, they landed in London and not nowheresville Manitoba.
John’s Rotary journey started in Parry Sound where he was instrumental in organizing a club Wine and Cheese fundraiser that continues to this day. John also emotionally spoke about the impact his Parry Sound Club had on a local school with a breakfast program. Giving back and helping out have long been of high importance to John. His efforts continue through the Canadian Tire Jump Start program and now with Rotary as well.
John’s hobbies include travel, the outdoors, running, ancient history, and perhaps a continued interest in wine and cheese.
It was a great presentation and we are grateful to have John as the newest member of our Club!
Morgan Anderson – KWAG
Morgan Anderson joined our meeting to introduce the KW Art Gallery to our Club and to announce an exciting fundraiser in cooperation with our Club.
The mission of KWAG is to connect people and ideas through Art. KWAG consistently hosts exhibitions and have recently taken art outside with a new 50/50 garden located in front of KWAG.
KWAG / Kitchener-Westmount Rotary Club Fundraiser – Harvest 2025
On September 27, 2025 KWAG will host a dinner for up to 80 people entitled Harvest – An Evening of Art, Food and Community. This dinner will consist of a three-course meal with associated wine pairings. Tickets will be $125/ea. More details to follow.
