Mac Graham- WHO AM I?
Born in Strathroy, ON. Mac’s parents were heavily involved in their community. Mac had a fairly ordinary childhood, grew up playing sports, hanging out with friends, working on family farms, etc. Mac was raised Catholic, and with no Catholic High Schools in Strathroy, Mac attended High School in London, ON.
At 18 Mac’s world got a bit bigger. Talented in French, Mac won a scholarship which would send him to Paris, France for a year of study. This proved to be a formable year for Mac. Mac attended the University of Western Ontario. A bit of moving took Mac from London to Jasper, AB, Ottawa, ON and then to Toronto, ON. Mac had several jobs throughout these years, mostly seasonal work in between schooling or in between moves, Mac learned several jobs and worked for numerous small and medium sized companies. By the time Mac was 25 he estimates he had over 30 jobs.
Mac told a great story about meeting his wife, Poppy, when he “crashed” a wedding at the Waterloo Motor Inn. His first encounter with Waterloo. A friend was attending a wedding and asked Mac to come into town to party with him after the wedding. Mac came to pick up his friend who called him in. He found the open bar, naturally, and a pretty lady to dance with. That lady turned out to be his wife, they are happily married today and live in Kitchener.
Deciding that he had enough of working for other people, Mac set off to be his own boss. A quick run with a Laundry Mat he and his wife purchased taught Mac lots about business. his version of “business school”. He then tried his hand at Property Management. This, too, taught many lessons but wasn’t the right fit. Mac, renewing an insurance policy with Knights of Columbus, asked the agent how he got into business. The gentlemen provided some suggestions and next thing Mac knew he was working with Knights of Columbus. He had found his calling, a real passion for helping people with their finances and insurance requirements. In 2012 Mac opened Klein Insurance Group which operates on College Street in Kitchener. Mac is excited to be a Rotarian and a proud member of our club.
