Past-President Graham Gardiner ran the meeting this week.
 
Actually, this was Graham back in 1997-98 when he was Club President. 
 
 
And Graham today!
 
 He still remembers how to run a great meeting. He kept members engaged with some trivia tidbits. (no jokes)
 
For those long time Rotarians, does anyone remember what the main club fundraiser was back when Graham was President? We held a duck race, which generated a net profit of $69,000 in Graham's year. And the winning prize? A three year lease on a 1998 Ford Explorer.

Announcements-
 
Julie Walder received  the "Community Wellbeing" award on behalf of the work of Marillac Place from the Bhayana Family Foundation at the 2025 Capacity Canada Boot Camp.

Guest Speaker-Jordan Baker- Director of Development at The Human Society of Kitchener-Waterloo & Stratford and Perth
 
 
Discussed Campaign Update on their new Kitchener building to be located across from their present building. Phase 1 is slated for 2026 with Phase 2 June 2027.
He discussed the Community Impact whereby they hope to handle programming with services provided to the community, care for the animals and the Kitchener-Westmount Rotary Pet Food Bank.
 
Community Impact - last year they fed 8675 pets with 3000 people accessing the food pantry
 
Campaign Impact - they are hoping to increase vet outreach, the pet pantry, improve in-house hospital care and education and community programming to encourage empathy and compassion.
 
Campaign Success has been very positive from the public with feedback with people who have reached out to the Humane Society and what that support means to them.

In last week's Newsletter we reported the Club was considering a name change to remove the word Club from our title. In fact, it is Rotary International who are possibly considering updating the club terminology.
