Todd Aitchison introduced the speaker – District Governor Bill Proctor.
With lots of challenges in the world it is easy to be fearful, lose hope and feel powerless but this is NOT THE CASE. There are simply not enough Rotarians in the world.
The World Needs Rotary and Rotary needs us and more like us to not only improve but at times actually save lives.
Bill talked briefly about the 100th Anniversary of Rotary – 100 Years of Serving Humanity.
Bill talked briefly about a book by Past District Governor David Forward entitled “Doing Good In The World” This book is filled with good news and stories of the successes supported around the world by Rotary. He shared a few examples of those stories.
Currently the clubs in our district are supporting projects in Nepal, Camaroon, South Africa, the Philippines, Uganda and India.
Advancement of World Understanding and the promotion of peace underpins Rotary.
He reminded us that we CAN achieve peace through service. We just need to keep calm and change the world.
Overall the talk served to re-inspire us and increase our conviction as Rotarians.
Jim Kibble thanked not only the speaker DG Bill Proctor but his wife Judy for their hard work and support of Rotary.
Troy explained to the club how the board had decided to address the 100 for 100 Campaign which seeks to ask each and every Rotarian to contribute $100 to the Rotary Foundation in Celebration of Rotary’s 100 years of Service to Humanity. Each member will be charged an additional $33 to each of three quarterly club dues bills. Those that have already made the $100 gift (or had other concerns with this plan) were to let Troy know ASAP.
