MINUTES OF MEETING

Announcements:
President Mac announced that four members participated in the tree planting yesterday for the City of Kitchener.
Next week will be a buffet at Concordia, but members can also order off the menu. Karin Voisin announced that we will be supporting the Hospice Christmas efforts this year and that she would work with Kelly Fifield to understand how we could support the Salvation Army gift giving program. Tickets are still available for “merry and Bright” as well as the movie night.
Ray Finnie requested volunteers in support of the Camino Gingerbread house judging competition to be held on December 9, 11 and 12.
50/50 Pot: $586.50: There was no winner, so a large amount will carry forward to next week.

Who AM I ? Kelly Fifield
Kelly has led a remarkably interesting life. She was born into a Salvation Army (SA) family and moved many times when she was young. After attending Chef school, she moved to BC where she met her husband. They volunteered at the Salvation Army together as married shortly after that. They decided to become “core officers” in the SA and attended SA Training College for officers in Winnipeg.
She has had postings in High River, AB, Kentville, NS, Kamloops, BC, and Kitchener. She has had extensive involvement in disaster relief via her role in SA and was heavily involved in this activity in the High River Flood and the Vernon, BC, atmospheric river flooding.
Kelly has 2 daughters. She got involved in Rotary in High River and has been a member in each town that she has lived in. Welcome Kelly.
WHO AM I? Allan Quarry
Allan is a Kitchener native and went to Grand River CI, University of Waterloo and WLU. After a few different career false starts, Allan went to Western and studied business administration. He eventually settled at WLU where he taught at the business school for 23 years. He has great faith in the students of today and speaks highly of them.
He had the opportunity to purchase his father’s family communications business. It was small and had 4 employees and over a period of years he grew it to where it had offices in the USA and 153 employees. He sold the business 3 years ago and is now not retired but “inspired”. Allan has a son and a daughter and has been married to Susan for 44 years.
Allan was a Rotarian a long time ago in Burlington and when he retired, he decided to join our club as he knows John Thompson as well as Neil Aitchison.
Allan has established a non-profit organization called “Heart Beats Hate”. Which promotes kinder behavior. It operates in over forty countries. Welcome Allan.
