Executive Officer at KWAR- Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS

The Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) is a member focused not-for-profit association representing over 1,300 local REALTOR® members. The association was formed in 1937 and continues to provide a robust Multiple Listing Service or MLS System, continuing education, and related services to its members. The term REALTOR is a trademark identifying members in good standing of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) who provide real estate brokerage services in compliance with CREA's By-Laws and Rules, the REALTOR® Code, and in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations.

KWAR and Rotary share a similar commitment to giving back to the community with over ½ million in donations to local charities since 1993.  A code of ethics that all members must follow has been in place since 1913.  Education and Advocacy are also important components of KWAR’s daily work.

Bill spoke in detail of the level of advocacy being tackled with the various levels of government covering areas such as the Municipal Land Transfer Tax for cities other than Toronto, Waterloo rental licensing, Nonresidential home purchase taxation,  and Marijuana legalization and its effect on housing.

A brief overview of the market concluded the presentation.
