Rotary Club of Kitchener-Westmount MINUTES OF MEETING

Announcements: President Brandon thanked Troy & Chef ‘D’ for today’s lunch.

Birthdays: Oct. 23rd – Wanda Israel (Kyle’s partner), Oct. 24th – Kelly, Kathy & Bob.

Rotary anniversary: Kelly (1982).

Simon expressed his thanks to all members for their concern for the safety of his family. His daughter is back in Israel, near Tel Aviv, Simon is planning to return next week.

Brandon also thanked Troy and all members who participated in this year’s Crown & Anchor at Concordia Club and Alison and her crew for the Oktoberfest Luncheon. Both raised record amounts.

Nov. 15th is the Mildmay Rotary Club anniversary dinner meeting, contact John Thompson for tickets.

Alex announced that The Working Centre is looking for temporary shelter space for this winter.

Brandon noted that we have received thank you letters from some of our donor recipients including the Concordia Club Choir.

Michelle reminded that next week we are meeting at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and to please reply to John’s e-mail. Our Christmas Party this year will be at Hacienda on December 13th. More on that to come.

Mac told us that TK from Ghana is back in the country and giving a presentation about his project next Friday evening. Call Mac for details.

Guest Speaker: Rose Mantrak, Marketing & Entrepreneurship Professor at Conestoga College.

Karen Spencer introduced Rose.
Rose is the founder of the Entrepreneurship Collective at Conestoga College. The program has five components:

  1. Planning Collaboration

  2. Entrepreneurship Collective

  3. Venture Lab

  4. Gig Lab

  5. Sales Lab

Rose provided a description of each component and how they are unique in training and facilitating start-up and established businesses.

Rose asked if any of our members might be interested in becoming Mentors or advisors to the program.

Graham Gardner thanked Rose and presented her our Operation Eyesight certificate.

Interesting fact..our very own Neil Aitchison was the very first graduate of Conestoga College!

Neil Aitchison and Doug Fisher in the Inner Courtyard at the Hacienda Serena. Club members enjoyed an off- site meeting at the beautiful venue with catering by Chef D.
 
 Doug Fisher who recently celebrated a birthday said he was so old that he was around when the Dead Sea was just sick!
